What does a dietitian do?

Dietitian’s are experts in the field of nutrition and provide up-to-date advice on food, nutrition and healthy eating. If you suffer from any of the following health conditions, you may benefit from seeing a Dietitian.

Who would benefit from seeing a dietitian? 
If you have any of the following health conditions you would benefit from seeing a dietitian:

  • Overweight
  • Iron Deficiency Anaemia
  • High Cholesterol Levels
  • Osteoporosis
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
  • Pre-diabetes
  • Adult Eating Disorders
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Pregnancy/Breastfeeding
  • Diverticulitis
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Coeliac Disease

Who can access the program? 
This program is available for all members of the community. Individual appointments as well as group programs are provided.

Where is it operated from? 
The program operates out of our agency premises at 399 Wyndham Street, Shepparton.

How do I make an appointment? 
Your GP can fax or mail a referral, or you can contact Goulburn Valley Community Health Service on 5823 3200 during business hours. Prior to your first appointment, you will be required to speak to the Intake Worker who will assess your situation and refer you to the appropriate program.

Please note that depending on demand, you may be placed on a waiting list and offered an appointment according to priority.

Is there a cost? 
There is no cost for individual sessions. Gold coin donations are welcome for Group Sessions.
