Indigenous Family Violence
Indigenous Family Violence (IFV) is any behaviour within the immediate or extended family or community that seeks to harm, threaten, exercise control over another person or make them feel unsafe and unable to make their own decisions. IFV is often a hidden problem within our Indigenous community, with many people experiencing family violence in the home or in a relationship.
Types of violence can include:
- Physical
- Sexual
- Emotional
- Spiritual
- Social
- Financial
- Indigenous Community Violence

This Program is designed for Indigenous people, Family/Community Members, who are in need of assistance depending on the clients individual
circumstances
Where is it operated from?
The program operates out of our agency premises at 399 Wyndham Street, Shepparton.
How do I make an appointment?
Contact Goulburn Valley Community Health Service on 5823 3200 during business hours. Prior to your first appointment, you will be required to speak to the Intake Worker who will assess your situation and refer you to the appropriate program.
Is there a cost?
There is no cost for individual sessions.
