Financial Counselling

Financial Counselling provides assistance with making arrangements to pay bills, debt management, budgeting and planning for the future and personal debt management.

These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Budgeting strategies
  • Negotiating with creditors
  • Advocacy with banks and debt collectors
  • Liaison with Government offices including the Sheriff’s Office, State Ombudsman Offices, Centrelink and the Department of Housing
  • Filing for bankruptcy
  • Referrals to other relevant services

Who can access the program?
Financial counselling is available to those with difficulties in managing their everyday living expenses.

Where is it operated from?
The program operates out of our agency premises at 399 Wyndham Street, Shepparton. Appointments are also available in the Moira and Strathbogie Shires.

How do I make an appointment?
Call in or telephone Goulburn Valley Community Health Service on 5823 3200 during business hours. Prior to your first appointment, the Intake Worker will contact you to assess your situation and organise an appointment with the appropriate program.

Is there a cost?
There is no cost for individual sessions.
