Financial Counselling
Financial Counselling provides assistance with making arrangements to pay bills, debt management, budgeting and planning for the future and personal debt management
These services include, but are not limited to:
- Budgeting strategies
- Financial analysis
- Negotiating with creditors
- Advocacy with banks and debt collectors
- Liaison with Government offices including the Sheriff’s Office, State Ombudsman Offices, Centrelink and the Department of Housing
- Filing for bankruptcy
- Referrals to other relevant services
Who can access the program?
Financial counselling is available to those with difficulties in managing their everyday living expenses.
Where is it operated from?
The program operates out of our agency premises at 399 Wyndham Street, Shepparton. Appointments are also available in the Moira and Strathbogie Shires.
How do I make an appointment?
Contact Goulburn Valley Community Health Service on 5823 3200 during business hours. Prior to your first appointment, you will be required to speak to the Intake Worker who will assess your situation and refer you to the appropriate program.
How do you access the program?
Referrals for Financial Counselling are via Central Intake. You can self-refer by presenting to the reception desk at 399 Wyndham Street between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm weekdays (except public holidays). Alternatively, you can call Goulburn Valley Community Health Service on (03) 5823 3200 and ask for the Central Intake Worker. You may be required to wait or make an appointment but all attempts will be made to speak or meet with you as soon as possible.
Is there a cost?
There is no cost for individual sessions.
